There are many endangered animals in the world. Let's look at some!

Chapter 1

1. Pandas
Pandas are the most common endangered animals in the world. Only about 2,500 pandas are left in the world, including wild ones or the ones in zoos. Due to humans cutting many bamboos, pandas are losing their homes.

2. Blue Whales
Blue Whales are also a most heard endangered species. They are now protected in safe areas of the seas. About 2,000 blue whales are left nowdays. The main reason whichs threatens them is that fisherman hunt whales for their body parts which make a lot of money.

3. Elephants
Many kinds of elephants are endangered. They are mostly hunted by hunters which want their tusks which are made into decorations that cost a lot of money. About 400,000 elephants are now left in the world.

4. Orangutans
Orangutans, which are one of the monkeys, are also endangered. They mainly live in the forests of Indonesia. Only about 100,000 orangutans are left now. Their habitats are chopped down to be made into furniture or houses.
5. Hawksbill Sea Turtles
These sea turtles live in parts of the ocean. There are only 8,000 of the population left in the world. The rising sea levels and loss of coral reefs are threatening these sea turtles.

6. Polar Bears
I am sure that many of you heard of global warming. That is a threat to many animals, like polar bears. They are found in the North Pole. Only about 30,000 of the polar bears are left. The heat on earth melts the ice and it is a big loss for polar bears.


7. Chimpanzees
They live in about 21 coutries found in Africa. Only about 300,000 of them are believed to be left in the wild. Mainly, their habitats are destroyed to be used for farming or building.
8. Black Rhinos
They are mainly found in Africa too. The main threat is due to poaching and habitat loss. About 6,000 of them are left in the world. They are also hunted for their horns which cost a lot of money.


9. Amur Leopards
They are believed to be the most endangered cats in the world. Only about 75 of them are living in the wild nowdays. They are threated by humans which poach them and destroy their habitats. They are hunted too.

10. Monarch Butterflies
These insects are now an endangered species too. There has been a dramatic reduction of their habitat in the North America. Now, there are only about 30,000 of these butterflies left in the world.
11. Artic Wolves
These creatures are found in Canada's Queen Elizabith Islands. They are endangered due to climate change. Only about 200,000 artic wolves are left in the world now.


12. Sloths
Sloths are endangered as well. Only about 1,500 sloths are left in the wild now. They are native to Brazil. Besides humans, their biggest enemies are predatory birds, snakes, and large cats. They are endangered due to habitat destruction and hunting.
