“Bye, Pearson," said Mom.
“Bye, Pearson,” said Dad.
“Bye mom, bye dad," said Pearson as he swam away from his parents and towards the School of Fish for his first day of 1st grade.

School of Fish

“Hello, Pearson,” said Mrs. Whale as he came into the classroom
“Hi, Pearson,” said his friends Tommy Turtle, Simon Starfish, and Fred Fish.

The school day went on as usual, with math first, where they learned how to tell time.

The class had reading second where they learned spelling until lunchtime.
Fred, Tommy, Simon, and Pearson gathered around the lunch table to sit and start eating.

Pearson moved closer to Simon, maybe a little too close, then poke
“Ouch What was that? It felt like a thorn!” said Simon.

“Sorry, that was one of my quills,” said Pearson
“That hurt. Could you move over a little, please, Pearson,” said Simon Starfish.

Pearson moved over, and lunch ended. The class went back to Mrs. Whale’s classroom. They had writing. Then in science, they had a group project.

The goal of the project was to draw a picture of a flower. Pearson had paired up with Tommy Turtle who thought they should draw a Tiger Lily.
Pearson was trying to show his sketch to Tommy, so he got really close, closer than a magnet to metal, then…

Poke
“That hurt!” said Tommy.
“Sorry, Tommy, it won’t happen again,” said Pearson.

Science ended. Mrs. Whale taught a very boring lesson in social studies, and it was time for recess. The class got their things and went outside to the playground
Simon Starfish, Tommy Turtle, Fred Fish, and Pearson played by the sand castle.

Pearson got very close to Fred Fish, and like a cactus, one of Pearson's spines poked Fred.

"Ouch, you poked me!” said Fred moving a bit back.
“I’m sorry,” said Pearson.

“It’s ok, just be more careful about personal space next time,” said Fred.
“Don't worry Fred I will,” said Pearson.
