A little boy wondered all day what he should do for his mother for her birthday tomorrow. He thought about it all day, eager to give her something truly special. He thought of how she loved sweet treats, and how her favorite was cake. That was it! He could make her a cake.
He thought he did everything right. He remembered that he had properly compiled all the necessary ingredients, and had put the cake in the oven for a long enough time that it should have been cooked. "I thought three hours would be good enough," he whined to himself. "What was it that I did wrong?" He questioned.
While he was observing his mistakes, his mother came home from work. "What happened, Johnny?" She asked him.
"I was trying to make you the perfect present for your birthday tomorrow, mom." He muttered. "I don't know what I did, but it's all ruined."
"Well that's okay, Johnny." His mother told him. "How about you and I make a cake ourselves?"
Johnny smiled and agreed, and then they got to work. A little while later, Johnny and his mother had procured the perfect cake. The best part was, they did it together.
"This was the best birthday present I could've ever gotten." Johnny's mother told him.
"Even though I couldn't do it myself and I burnt the first one?" Johnny questioned, doubting if his mom was telling the truth.
"Making this cake together with you was an even better present than you just making one by yourself." His mom told him, lovingly.
Johnny hugged his mom, happy they could share this moment together.
