I Love my parents!
They are always there for me!
When I am happy, they are there for me, like when I won my soccer game.

GOAL!!!!!

YEA!! GO MACKENZIE!
They are there for me when I am sad, like when my friend is mean.

It'll be okay.

When I am hurt, they are there for me, like when I hurt my knee.

It's okay. We will take you to the Doctor.
I Love my parents,

and they love me!
I have never been away from my parents.
I see my mom when I wake up.

Good morning!

I see my dad when I get home from school.
How was your day?
I see them both when I go to bed at night.

Goodnight!
But I am growing up. I am getting taller, and my hair is getting longer.
I am getting stronger and more confident.

WOW! I am getting so tall.
I am now 8 years old. My parents think it is time for me to go to sleepaway camp.

They say camp will be fun and I will make lots of friends. I don't believe them. I don't want to be alone without my parents.

You will have fun!

I don't want to go!
I was very nervous on the day of camp. My parents drop me off at the cabin.

My parents made sure I had my pillow and everything I needed. Now it was time for goodbyes.

I am sad, but my counselor seems nice. I hug my dad and say goodbye.

Now remember to have fun!
I will try.
Next, I hug my mom . I make sure to hug her extra hard.

Please don't be sad I will always be with you. I will see you when we pick you up next week. Just remember that the sun is there to guide you with its life when I can't.

I am sad as I wave goodbye to my parents, but soon new kids arrive at the cabin. At least I won't be alone.

Soon we are playing a game and I hardly remember that my parents aren't there. We eat dinner and play games, but soon it is time for bed.

As I get ready for bed, I remember that my parents aren't there to give me a goodnight hug. I suddenly feel sad. It's so cloudy I can't even see the moon. Who will say goodnight to me now?

Suddenly from my window, I see a deer run out of the woods. The deer stops and stares at me, reminding me of my dad. My dad loves animals and nature.
The deer reminds me that my dad is still somewhere caring about me. The deer and I say a silent goodnight, and I go to bed.

The next day I woke up to cloudy skies and no sunlight. I feel a little better than yesterday. Soon it's time for breakfast. I am sad because my mom isn't there to make her famous pancakes.
