Chapter 1: Cognitive Milestone
At the age of 1 to 2 years old, Charlie, Zion, Zoey, Zariah, Zadien, and Zada follows behaviors and language of their parents. (HLJ Creative, 2023). Zion pulls on his mommy's pants as he cries to gain her acknowledgment. Zoey plays Peek-a-Boo with her mom.
At three years old, children recognize themselves in the mirror. (HLJ Creative, 2023). Zion sits in front of the mirror and realizes he can see himself. He notices the hat on his head and sees his hands, feet, and body.



At the age between 1 and 2, children discover new things through exploration. (HLJ, 2023)
Timothy likes to play with his truck while he explores the house. Daniel builds towers out of blocks as he plays.


Sarah is helping her mom clean, she helps mom by mopping the floor.
Charles is helping his mom clean the house. He helps mom by sweeping the dirt into the dust pan


At the age 1 to 2 years old can recognize things and people who are able to understand language and react in some way to it. (HLJ Creative, 2023)
Sammy is happy to see her cat Tiger. She leans forward to pet her.
Jared and his mom are talking about what to do for the day. He responds by saying "Park mommy."
At the age of 3 years old children can describe the items in a picture book. (HLJ Creative, 2023)
Wendy and her mom are reading a book together. Wendy tells mom "that's a sheep, grass, trees and stars.



1 to 2 years understands easy commands. A 3 year old sorts items into categories (pets, food, and plants. (HLJ Creative, 2023)
Nadia's mom tells her to pick up her toys in her room.
