My name is Cade Bachman and I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember. When I was in 8th grade, I had the opportunity to try out for the high school basketball team. I was very proud to join the team. 

As a sophomore, I tried out for the team again and made it just like the years prior. 

I made it!

I watched the Pennridge Basketball team play in previous years and they were a great team. Pennridge's basketball team finished 2nd in the state of Pennsylvania in 2019.

We practiced every day of the week except for Sundays. It was tiring, but also a lot of fun.

I was told by my coach that I would play on the JV team.

I'm having fun, but man this is tiring!

The season began and the team started playing really well.

However, many players started to get sick. Five players came down with an illness right before our upcoming game vs. Owen J. Roberts HS. Their sickness gave me a potential opportunity to play in that varsity game.

Will I play today?

I was working really hard at practice to be able to play Varsity for this one game. 

The day finally arrived...

The school day ended and it was time to take the hour-long bus ride to Owen J. Roberts. I also found out that I would be playing in both the JV and Varsity games. I was super excited.

We arrived at Owen J. Roberts and the JV game was first. It started off really well. I got to the free-throw line and made both shots.

We held the lead for most of the game and ended up winning by 10 points. I had a good game and scored 6 points. I was happy with my performance.

After the game, it was time to suit up for the varsity game. I was extremely excited about the chance to do this since this would be my first varsity game.

I had played in a Varsity football game before with more fans, but I was getting more nervous as the basketball game was getting closer to starting.

I'm kind of nervous!?

The pregame music started and warmups began. I didn't even feel tired from the game before.

In warmups, we took layups, mid-range shots, and 3-pointers. The game was about to begin.

The starting lineups were announced and the tipoff was set to start the game. The game officially began.

The game will now begin!

I started off on the bench just happy to be there. 

Both teams started out slow and everyone was missing a lot of shots.

We can do it!

However, we were playing good defense which kept the score close.

Eventually, we started to catch fire. My varsity teammates were shooting and making threes. We took a 15-point lead into halftime.

Since the lead was so large, I thought I had a great opportunity to get in my first varsity game.  

I might get in the game!

The second half was similar to the first. My teammates were playing great basketball and the lead extended to 20 points. The 4th quarter started with a solid performance.
