There once was a boy named Demetri.
Demetri loved math and was in a
secret organization called Y. Yet, in
order to be a full member of the
organization, one must be able to
complete a mission. Demetri waited
and waited for a mission to present
itself, but it never did.

Until one day, the leader of the group,
Euclid, came to Demetri with wonderful
news. “I have found you a mission,” he
said. “I need you to go to the secret
cave of Geos and retrieve the buried
treasure. If you are able to
successfully complete this mission,
Demetri, you will be a full member of
the organization Y.”

The following day, Demetri sets out
for his journey. He travels to a far
away land, the land of Calculations
where the secret cave of Geos is
located. He goes up to the door,
and tries to open it, but it is locked!
He steps back in sorrow, not
knowing what to do.

TO OPEN THIS DOOR,A message suddenly appeared on the
door.
TO GET WHAT YOU DESIRE,
YOU MUST FIND A ROCK WITH SIDES OF FOUR,
NOW IF YOU CAN FIND THE CORRECT KEY,
YOU WILL SURELY JUMP WITH GLEE

Demetri starts looking for a rock
with four sides right away. After a
short while, he finds one. It is in
the shape of a quadrilateral!

He takes the rock back to the door
and tries to put it into the keyhole,
but it won’t fit. Another message
appears on the door.
THIS ROCK IS INCORRECT
YOU NEED TO FIND THE KEY THAT WILL CONNECT
A LITTLE HINT JUST FOR YOU
THERE IS AT LEAST ONE SET OF PARALLEL LINES
BUT NEVER MORE THAN TWO.

Demetri tries to find a rock with
four sides, and at least one set, but
no more than two sets, of parallel
lines. He looked around the cave and
finally found one that looked like a
rhombus. He grabbed it and went to
place it in the keyhole.

Again, the key did not work and
another message appeared on the
door.
YOU GOT THE WRONG ROCK AGAIN
ANOTHER CLUE I’M GUESSING AMEN
NOW PLEASE BE THANKFUL
JUST REMEMBER 90 DEGREE ANGLES.

Demetri walked around the cave until
he found another rock with four
sides, at least one set, but no more
than two sets, of parallel lines, but
this rock also had 90 degree angles.
The rock looked like a rectangle,
which was exactly what he was looking
for, so he brought it back to the
keyhole.
