This story starts off with a perfect town known to be secluded from the curse of climate change. We learn in school that climate is the long-term changes in temperature and weather patterns. We learn that it affects many things such as the health of the environment, clean air, the safety of drinking water, the safety of food, and shelters. Nobody in this town, like me, know where the curse comes from. We hear stories about global warming from climate change as well, but we've never worried about it in this town. One day, though, this changed.

On the news, we heard that a lake near us suffered from an algal bloom. This was the closest our town ever was to a cursed area. That day, we learned that algal blooms cause wildlife to not have enough oxygen to survive. We also heard that the ice was melting in the arctic, which we never heard of happening before. We learned that arctic animals need ice to survive. We became worried that whatever was cursing these areas would get us next.

We forgot about the curse for a while, but slowly, we started to notice the lack of rain falling, and the dry ground. We never experienced such a drought before. This is when we knew we got hit with the terrible curse of climate change. We felt the intense global warming. We learned in class a while back that droughts can harm humans and wildlife by affecting the amount of food able to be grown and the amount of fresh water we have to drink. The curse was just beginning.

I started to see farmers in town talking about how the warmer temperatures meant longer growing seasons. Factories burning fossil fuels began increasing in number due to the demand of cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastics, and clothes. There were also many more gas powered vehicles being driven. The curse was getting worse and worse. I needed to get to the bottom of who was cursing the town. Then, I finally understood. WE were the ones cursing the town. WE were destroying our own town. WE were destorying the wildlife.
