When Jeremiah, the bullfrog, was born his
parents were so excited. They had heard
stories from their friends about the fun of
raising a young frog. They couldn't wait to
take him on many adventures.

As he grew, Jeremiah's parents started to
notice that he wasn't like other young frogs his
age. He didn't make eye contact with anyone
and he didn't ever go play with the other
frogs. They also noticed that he didn't croak.

One day when grandpa bullfrog was visiting he
noticed Jeremiah was sitting by himself away
from all the other frogs. He said, "I think
there is something wrong with Jeremiah. Maybe
you should go see Doctor Seagull."

So mother and father bullfrog went to see
Doctor Seagull. After the Doctor examined
him, he still wasn't sure what could be wrong.
He told Jeremiah's mother and father to come
back when Jeremiah was a little older.

Jeremiah's mother was very sad because she
didn't know how she could communicate to her
son and help him enjoy life like other frogs. She
went and talked to her friend Penny the
penguin. Penny said that she should go and see
crab the counselor.

The next day Jeremiah's mother and Jeremiah
made the journey to see crab. Crab told
Jeremiah's mother that he had something called
Autism. He told Jeremiah's mother that he
would be able to go to school and learn to
communicate with others in his own way.
Jeremiah's mother was so relieved to know that
there are things she can do to help her son so
he can be happy.

Jeremiah's mom and dad learned to keep
Jeremiah on the same schedule everyday and
only gave him green snakes to eat. One day, a
monkey came along and took Jeremiah's green
snake. This made Jeremiah very angry and he
began to bang his head on the sand.

Jeremiah's mother ran to her son and hugged
him. She spoke soft and gentle words to him
until he fell asleep in her arms. As she held
her son she dreamed that she could hear her
son croak and her he loved her and could hug
her.

I love you, mom.
As the days went by, everyone learned that
Jeremiah was different, but they could still
communicate with him in special ways and love
him.
