After returning from vacation with her family, Rachel felt that something was just
not right. She had been trying to get to sleep for exactly 14 minutes and, even
though she was sleepy, her eyes just would not stay shut!

After tossing and turning and tossing and turning, it dawned on her… “Where’s
Boppy?!”

Ever since she was born, Boppy had been Rachel’s very best friend. A Curious George
stuffed monkey, Boppy had helped Rachel fall asleep every night since she was a
baby. Holding on to Boppy as she drifted off to sleep, Rachel always felt safe and
warm. “I’ll never fall asleep now!” Rachel whimpered.

Rachel and her family got home late in the evening from their trip, and Rachel had not
unpacked yet. She tore through her bag, hoping to see Boppy’s face. She flung socks
and pants behind her, rushing to empty the bag in case Boppy had curled up at the
bottom.

All of Rachel’s clothes lay in a pile behind her, and an empty bag in front of her. She
couldn’t hide from the truth for a second longer. Boppy must be missing!

Rachel never thought of herself as very brave, or very strong. Boppy made her feel
like she was. With Boppy by her side, Rachel could do anything. Now what would
happen to her? And where was Boppy?! Rachel began to cry.

At the sound of her distress, Rachel’s family rushed to her bedroom. Her mom, dad,
and big sister sat on the edge of her bed. “Sweetie, what’s going on?” Dad said.
Rachel explained her frantic search, her lack of sleep, her fears…tears kept falling
down her cheeks. Then, Rachel’s sister Maggie scooted closer to her. “I wonder
what Boppy is doing right this minute.” she said. “Probably having an amazing
adventure!”
Rachel considered this possibility for a moment. Boppy always was the brave one,
and curious. There were so many things he would want to do if he had the chance.
The only question was, where would he go first…?

?

“M…maybe he’s in a big city!” Rachel said, still upset but excited by the chance to use
her imagination. “He loves tall buildings and going on tours.” Rachel smiled, picturing
Boppy next to the Statue of Liberty.
