My vacation this year was very different from what I had imagined. Most of the time, I spent my vacation in my bed, having a boring routine where nothing interesting happened.

Until my mom told me that we were going to her hometown, Chiclayo, I honestly didn't want to go. I remembered from my childhood that I used to get very dirty there because there's a lot of dirt, or I recalled that it was very sunny

. The idea didn't excite me. I also knew that I had cousins whom I didn't talk to often, or almost at all. My mom tried to convince me and said that the whole family would go, even my cousins who are close to me, and I got excited. One day before New Year's, we traveled; they wanted to have a big party.

I also discovered that they have the tradition of making a straw doll and filling it with fireworks, and when the clock strikes 12, they light it up. My cousin told me that this symbolizes the closure of everything that happened in the year. It was fun to see.

After that, my entire family went to the beach. We had to take two minivans, and it was funny because they started singing cumbia or salsa songs, even the driver and the conductor joined in with my family. When we arrived in Pimentel, a beach, it was very beautiful. It was a very clean beach despite the large number of people. My cousins and I went into the water, and it was funny because one of my cousins made me fall. When I tried to get up, a wave made me spin around many times. According to my cousins, I looked like when Sussy Díaz almost drowned at the beach with her floatie.

Later, something I remember very well was when we celebrated my cousin's birthday, who is close to me. My cousins and I went to an amusement park, and we saw a ride called 'the hammer.' It involved spinning around a lot, and it even went upside down. I had never been on such a ride before, so we decided to try it. They asked us if we were of legal age since this ride didn't allow minors, and we said we were adults, so they let us in without further ado. It was very extreme, and I would never ride something like that again.

I also remember that we went to the cinema. We went to see a horror movie, but it didn't really scare us much. What made me laugh was that my 18-year-old cousin, when he screams, he screams very high-pitched. He's very jumpy to the point that when he got scared, he accidentally threw his popcorn into the next seat, and some of it landed on a man. It was funny, and the man didn't take it badly; he laughed too.

The next day, we had a pajama party. My cousins went out to buy snacks, and my cousin and I stayed behind to make popcorn in a pot. When she opened the pot, some popcorn kernels splashed onto her face, causing her to drop the lid. In my attempt to help, I accidentally placed my hand on the lid. Even though it sounds illogical, it was a moment of panic for us. Amidst laughter, we tried to cover it up, but there were so many popcorn kernels flying around, and we were trying to dodge them until we finally managed to cover it. We couldn't stop laughing.

One night, we went out to play volleyball with my cousin's friends. It was a lot of fun; everyone knew how to play and could jump really high. However, we managed to win, and they bought us hamburgers with our soda. After that, we all stayed and talked about what Lima was like or what I thought of Chiclayo. It wasn't as bad as I had thought.

And what I remember the most from this trip is seeing my mom having a great time and being happy with her whole family because I felt like she had no stress at all. So, the best part of this trip was seeing my mom happy and enjoying hersel
