Shout out to all the wonderful teachers out there sharing their strategies to help guide lost teachers!

Homework & Practice Strategy

Homework & Practice Strategy
Description:
The homework and practice strategy is typically used to keep students active in their learning and help them absorb the information better! The teacher would show them what to do in class and then have them do something similar at home to determine if they understood or retained the information.
Homework & Practice Strategy
Example:
A good example of what some homework you could send home with kids is the task of taking a picture or video of them and their family doing something healthy! This doesn't mean just working out, it could also be eating your vegetables or going on a walk!
Direct Instruction Strategy

Direct Instruction Strategy
Description:
The Direct Instruction Strategy is where the teacher presents a topic, according to their subject, at the front of their classroom for students to hear and visualize thoroughly the point that the teacher is trying to get across.
Direct Instruction Strategy
Example:
A good example of Direct Instructions is when the PE coach goes up in front of the class and presents a powerpoint on the specifics and importance of food nutrition and how it affects your body. If they ask questions this is a bonus!
Hands On Learning Strategy

Hands On Learning Strategy
Description:
Hands on Learning is a teachers ability to demonstrate creative physical activities and allow the children to do these activities themselves to see what its like. This is also known as Kinesthetic learning!
Hands On Learning Strategy
Example:
A good example of hands on learning is demonstrating how to dribble a ball and then asking the students to try and do it themselves! It also helps if you ask what techniques work for he task and what doesn't.
Guest Speaker Strategy

Guest Speaker Strategy
Description:
The guest speaker strategy is simply allowing someone else to come in and teach the class, despite if they teach differently. This is a way to help students be exposed to all different learning tactics and could help them in a way maybe you couldn't, which is not a bad thing!
Guest Speaker Strategy
Example:
A good example would be inviting the middle school coach(s) to come and tell the older kids about middle school and what is important to know and practice before they get there!
Music & Song Strategy

Music & Song Strategy
Description:
The music and song strategy is the process of using music to teach the subject. This works by getting students to understand the way music and sounds can help us to accomplish different physical activities!
Music & Song Strategy
Example:
A good example of this strategy is having the students do a warm up to the same song everyday to help it get it engrained in their brain.
