In a small cottage in a big forest in Greece, Two women, One a goddess sat discussing what to do about a mortal girl they found named Willow. She had thick brownish hair in a worn-out bun, green eyes, and stalkey legs, With skin the color of leather.

She was beautiful and optimistic. Demeter, the gardening goddess, was discussing with Daphne the tree spirit. What to do with the young girl. Daphne said “I shall care for the girl”

Demeter said ” Well good take good care of her”

10 years later

Willow had aged quite a bit by then her optimistic personality hadn't changed at all 
“Daphne, I’m heading out,” she said as she walked her daily walk to the river a few minutes away from the small cottage. One day at the river she saw a wet man handsome and tall with mussels like the bark of a redwood. And hair the color of wheat. ‘hello”

Willow said 

“HI,” said the man “I’m Ajax”

“Well hello Ajax,” said Willow” I’m Willow”

“Ahh well Willow… will you let me borrow your cloth,” said Ajax

“ sorry I do not have cloth” said Willow

“Ahh well, do you have leaves or something I can dry off with”?

Ajax said. “Um well we have leaves”, “ said Willow

“Could you bring me some? Said ajax

Willow left and got back giant leaves from a plant called palm.

“Will these do''? Willow said Softly

“Yes thank you,” spoke Ajax

She sat down next to the river bank where he sat.

And she sat staring at the river. She felt a feeling she had never felt before but she tried to ignore it.

The man got up and left. She walked back to her cottage.

The next day she saw Ajax again. He stood up and asked her” Do you not live in the village”?

Willow said “I do not,”

Ajax asked, “Well may I know where you live”?

Willow responded, “I live that way in a small cottage”.

“Why don’t I take you into town” said Ajax  

Willow agreed and they walked to the village on a path filled with 

wildflowers. They walked to a fountain in the center of the Quaint little town filled with people and goods, merchants too. The smell of bread, and cakes wafting out of the bakery across. She sat on the edge to enjoy the view he sat and leaned in then kissed her she leaned in. Suddenly she got up and said I have to go. She yelled, “Meet me here tomorrow On the fountain.” said Ajax.

There, she sat on the fountain's edge and waited. Hours passed and still no sign of him until  Finally, she saw Ajax, she couldn't quite see his full body until he stepped in front of the building blocking her view. but when he did she saw was holding another maiden's hand, she was blonde and fair with milky skin and blue eyes the color of the sky. Willow felt her heart drop at this horrendous sight. tears crept into her eyes, her chin Quivered, and her bun fell entirely on her face, her long brown hair was covering her entire face, but she was glad it covered her eyes for she couldn't watch as he kissed the young maiden. She felt so betrayed. suddenly he saw her, she looked up and removed the hair from her eyes, and they looked each other in the eyes. His were filled with fear, hers with pain, and anguish. She got up and ran to the river     bank and cried, a little bit later Daphne found her and started to get mad about her sneaking off again until she realized that Willow was crying.  She had asked what was wrong but Willow was too choked up with tears

to speak. Demeter also saw her and asked but there had yet to be a reply. She couldn't let the poor girl cry, weeks had passed, so finally she and Daphne agreed to turn the girl into a weeping willow tree so that she could cry as much as she wanted.  Ajax had been caught cheating on the maiden, albeit she still loved him. And this is why willow trees weep.
