Randy the Rooster
To GJoy:
Thank you for being a wonderful grandmother.
Word Count:

Randy is a rooster without any friends.
He is all alone most of the time like a hermit in a crowd.
"Wow, what a beautiful day," said Randy, thinking ahead. "I think I'll walk into town."

"Sup," said Randy rudely. "Want to be friends?"
"No, don't call me a friend," said the other chicken upset, "that hurt my feelings."

"What was his problem?" Randy asked himself, shaking it off.
Every time he tries to make friends he is told no like any other rotten egg.
Randy continues to search for new friends.

"Hey losers," said Randy, insulting them. "Let's be friends."
"No!" they said together, "Why would we ever be friends?"
"Yeah, and why would two athletic roosters like us ever hang out with a lazy chicken like you?" said one of them.

Randy was getting desperately discouraged now.
"Why does everybody turn me down?" Randy asked himself in doubt.
Randy decides to go back home for the afternoon.

"I can't make any friends!" Randy said frustrated. "I have tried, but I have had no luck."
"Well, have you tried being a little nicer to people?" asked Mom encouragingly.
Randy had not tried being nice.

"Woah, I never thought about it like that," said Randy, intrigued. "Thanks Mom."
Randy had a strategy to try, so he set out to find some new friends.
"I will check the library first," thought Randy.

Randy went to the library, hoping to find someone.
He saw two chickens over by the non-fiction section, and he walked over to them.
"Hey!" yelled Randy, excited to find somebody. "Do you want to be my friends?"

"No way!" said the small one with certainty.
"Do you remember last week when you called us dorks and nerds?" said the yellow one with anger.
"Yeah," said the small one in frustration. "If that is not reason enough, I don't know what is."
