To all the children who want to know more about the Coronavirus without being misguided.

Imagine all the germs on you right now. Your clothes, your surroundings… everywhere.

They are all around us and are very hard to get rid of effectively. These germs are the reason common infections and viruses spread.

One disease that has been going on for years is the Coronavirus. Also known as Covid or Covid-19. Picture a green icky monster that can get stuck to you and anyone you touch or are around. This disease monster has changed many lives.

The Coronavirus was first discovered in 1965 by scientists. It was only known to be a simple cold among humans.

Then, in December of 2019, the Corona was found in Wuhan, China.
The virus was then located in the U.S. due to someone returning home after spending time in Wuhan, China. This man was known to be the first confirmed case of the virus in America.

Then the virus got bigger...

Everyone online was talking about the news of more and more people getting the virus and feeling poorly. People were experiencing chills, coughing, breathing problems, headaches, body aches, sore throat, and more.

*cough*
This disease made people lose their taste and smell. This was really terrible, especially if you like to enjoy lunch or smell candles or anything! No more tasting your sugary candies drinking your fruit juice, or smelling your mom's dinner all because of the disease monster.

"yum"
Many symptoms similar to the flu or cold were looked at more seriously due to the connection to the Corona. This began to worry people whenever they would witness family members coughing or sneezing

*sneeze*
"What if he has the Coronavirus?"
Families were scared of their children getting the Coronavirus, and people started taking more precautions, such as wearing masks and gloves everywhere. These acts were done to ensure that contamination wasn’t happening.

Wearing masks and not touching others was the new normal, and many people were starting to realize how severe the disease was.

Along with these new precautions of gloves and masks came angry people. Many people did not want to wear masks everywhere. This was a problem because...

...stores had to make it mandatory for everyone to wear masks in their buildings. There were consequences for those who chose not to, like kicking them out, or worse, getting the virus.
People could also be tested to see if they had the Covid-19 disease. Testing was done by inserting a swab or q-tip-looking object into your nose and putting it into a container for a lab to find out if you have the virus. There were also tests you could do at home without going anywhere.

Then, Covid-19 started impacting the school communities. Around February 2020, many students were sent home early in the school year and told to quarantine. Everyone was to remain at home for the time being to stop the spread of infection. This was a big change.

Teachers started using websites like Zoom to communicate with their students online through screens. This was difficult for many, especially children, because of the new learning setting caused by the virus. Computers were used more than books during this time, and students learned to become more familiar with them.
:(
While some students were home, doing school online, other schools remained in person but had to wear masks. Many students grew unhappy with the virus because they did not get to see their friends, and their faces were always covered. All of this went on for years...

After schools were affected, more parents had to make sure they had the proper care for their at-home children. This either meant finding people to watch their kids or taking time away from their jobs.

During the virus, people started losing their jobs due to the pandemic. Over time, Covid-19 was spreading greatly, so businesses thought letting their workers go was the best solution. Many were unemployed or had no job.

Many grown-ups had no money due to losing their jobs, making it very hard to take care of their families and themselves. Other people who still had jobs had to wear masks or work from home. Working at home, like students being sent home to do their work on computers, away from everyone.
