My name is Key! I'm in 3rd grade and my favorite part of the day is recess. I like recess because I get to talk and play with all my friends, something I don't get to do much in class.

My mom told me I have ADHD, I didn't know what those letters meant until she explained them to me. 

You might have just been told you have ADHD and don't know what it is. Its normal to feel a little confused but I'm going to explain and help you feel better. 

ADHD stands for 

    Attention

    Deficit

    Hyperactivity

    Disorder

Big words right?! Think of my brain kind of like a car, going really fast and when I need to slow down, sometimes I don't slow down fast enough and my brain continues to go go go.

Sometimes I find it hard to concentrate, my brain is thinking about a lot of other ideas and when I need to focus on something my brakes aren't working and I continue to think and imagine all the other worlds I could be at.

Before I knew I had ADHD I had trouble staying organized, my room at home and my work station at school were always a mess. I always had to be reminded to clean up after myself.  I would get side tracked and would always get in trouble

"Please pick up after yourself Key. This makes the room messy!!!."

I had lots of trouble sitting still and paying attention in class, I would constantly think about other worlds and adventures I could have. This caused my grades to go down, and I would be confused a lot. I couldn't understand why I couldn't just sit still and pay attention in class.  I would stay in trouble because of it.

"Key pay attention!"

Ms. Williams noticed this and talked to my mom. We started meeting with Dr. Carlisle. After different tests the doctor told my mom and me that I had ADHD.

"It would be a good idea to test Key for ADHD, she is showing common signs, and we can get her the proper help.
