
Native Americans
The Native American lifestyle was very traditional. The men hunt for their families and tribe. While the women stayed home making tools, cooking, and taking care of the children. They both contributed to the family in the plains Indian Lifestyle. The council of elders were the people who made decisions in the tribe, and the chiefs advised them.

Battle/Massacre at Wounded Knee
There were many conflicts over the control of the great plains in eastern Colorado. The conflicts was one of the causes of the Sand Creek Massacre. During the battle there were many casualties and villages destroyed.
There were volunteers that returned and killed the wounded that were left behind and set fire to villages. The soldiers were praised for the massacre.

Sitting Bull
Sitting Bull was one of the leaders who led his people into battle by having a resistance against the U.S government policies. He joined his first war party when he was 14 years old. He was seen as a very powerful person for his fearlessness in battle. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and he became Chief of the Lakota Nation in 1867.

Lifestyle of American Settlers/American Cowboys and Vaqueros
The American lifestyle changed because of the vaqueros. The vaqueros were the originals and cowboys came as inspiration. The Americans were inspired and made cowboys. Cowboy's and Vaqueros are very similar. They round up, rope, brand, and care for their animal.

Problems with the Railroads/abuses
There were two companies that were building the railroads, The Union Pacific and Central Pacific. One of the problems they were facing was lack of competition which will cost more to ship supplies. There was poor pay, long hours, and lots of physical work, there was eventually a strike in 1894 because of the tightly controlled environment.
