Dedicated to all the boys and girls who have walked through the hardship of parents' divorce, just as I have.

Katie was a sweet, seven year old girl with a loving family who always had her best interest in mind. For years the family got along well in front of Katie. She enjoyed living together with her parents and having family time during the evening. At times, Katie's parents would argue at home. This concerned Katie sometimes, but she trusted things would be okay in the end. She just wanted to be a kid and enjoy her life.

Eventually, Katie's parents fought so often that Katie learned to ignore and block it out everytime it happened. She passed between her two parents while they argued in the kitchen day after day. It no longer bothered Katie like it did in the beginning. However, that would all change soon.

One day, Katie looked out the window to see her mother packing the family's blue car. She thought the family was packing for a surprise road trip, but after she asked her mom, she realized she was wrong. "Mommy!," she called out. Katie's mom explained to her that she was taking Katie from dad for a while. Katie became sad after knowing she wouldn't see her dad as much, but listened to her mom and got in the car anyways.

"Mommy!"

Katie would see her dad every other weekend. She enjoyed the little time she had to hang out with him. She loved to paint rocks, ride her bike, and watch T.V. with him while she was at his house.
Katie thought about going to her dad's house all week at school, and it would distract her from her school work. "Katie!," shouted Mrs. Smith. "Sorry," replied Katie.

"Katie!"

Katie would often go to the park with her dad to play football. She knew most girls didn't play the sport, but her dad always supported her in everything she wanted to do.
"Hey, catch!," dad shouted. "I'm ready," retorted Katie.
Katie always beat her dad in every game they played.

"Hey, catch!"
"I'm ready!"

Katie really struggled to live with her parents' divorce. She often wondered why life had to be this way, and she felt very frustrated with her mother for leaving her dad. They were supposed to be a happy family, but were fractured. This caused tension between her parents sometimes. Katie also never liked going between two houses because that meant she had to pack all of her belongings in her bags. It was a hassle.
