Laney has been friends with Pandora and Angellica for as long as she can remember.
Together they are a perfect trio, like the Three Musketeers.
Every group needs a leader though, and their leader is Pandora. She decides what they play, where they play, who they play with, and even what they wear.

"Can I play with you guys today?"
"NO!"
Pandora always had to control everything, and Laney and Angellica never minded. After all without Pandora they probably would never have become friends on their own, she brought their group together.
Laney never wanted to be a main character and little Angellica could not stand up for herself, until Pandora went too far.

One day, Laney did the unthinkable, she wore green. Green was Laney's favorite color so her mom gave her a green shirt for her birthday and she was so excited to wear it the next day.
This made Pandora angry because many years ago she decided the group should only wear their signature colors. Pandora in blue, Angellica in purple, and Laney in pink, every day until now.

"WHAT are you WEARING?"
"Green..."
"Why would you ever wear such an ugly color?" asked Pandora, "It doesn't even look good, pink is your color!"
"Green is my favorite color," replied Laney, "I don't even like pink, you do! Just because you think you are right doesn't mean you are!"
"I'm always right!" insisted Pandora.

"Well if you are going to wear that, we can't be friends anymore!"

That night, after a full school day of fighting with Pandora, Laney went home deeply distraught. Laney had a conundrum.
She could not be herself with Pandora and Angelica. She wanted to be herself and have friends who not only let her be herself but also help her grow.

As Laney tried to come up with a solution she reminisced on her friendship with Pandora.
As Laney thought back she realized Pandora had been mean the whole time.
"I am going to start standing up for myself", thought Laney. "I am going to try new things and make new friends, even if it takes time for me to grow a back bone ."

The next day Laney decided to come to school with a predominantly green ensemble and a new hairstyle. Pandora flew into a rage, "I thought you were my friend but I guess I was wrong!", she cried.
"Stop trying to manipulate me," proclaimed Laney, "I am done fighting with you. I loved being your friend but I refuse to be treated badly anymore."
"Ugh", huffed Pandora as she turned to their classmate Bianca.
