Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jasper who lived in a small little town called Newfane with his family.

Jasper had a love for basketball since he was a little child. He was inspired by his father who was the best basketball player the town had ever seen. 

Jasper worked very hard to try and be the best basketball player he could be. He would train everyday at the park with his father and his best friend Toby in the summer .

"I can't wait for this season!", said Jasper.

I can't wait for this season!

Jasper dreamed of following his father's footsteps and playing basketball at Syracuse after graduating high school. His father had been one of the best players to ever play at Syracuse and he wanted to go down as even better than him. 

"I'm gonna be better than you ever were," teased Jasper at his father. 

I'm gonna be better than you ever were.

In the summer before his junior year, Jasper knew he had to work extra hard if he wanted to achieve his dream. 

So he and his best friend, Toby, decided they would work harder than they ever had for this upcoming season. 

By the end of the summer, they both felt that they were the best they had ever been and were ready to have great seasons. 

We're going to be so good this year.

I know, I can't wait!

Finally, the season had arrived and Newfane opened up their season against their biggest rivals. Jasper was very nervous about the game in front of the packed crowd. 

But the time that Jasper had worked all summer for had finally arrived as the ref threw the ball up for the tip and the game began.

Jasper started the game by scoring a very quick 10 points and his confidence was through the roof as the crowd cheered him on.

LETS GO JASPER!!

When the game ended, Jasper finished with an incredible 40 points breaking his father's school record. He was awarded the player of the game and they beat their rivals. 

Jasper's father was so proud of his son and gave him the biggest hug and congratulations after the game. 

Jasper was starting to see the benefits of all his hard work and couldn't wait to continue this play throughout the rest of the season.

In the team's next game, Jasper was off to another great start when he got a steal and went to jump up for a dunk but heard a loud pop in his knee and fell to the ground in terrible pain. 

"AHHHH MY KNEE!!", screamed Jasper. 

His coach and trainer rushed out to him and helped him get off the court. But everyone in the gym feared the worst for him. 

AHHHH MY KNEE!!

NOOO JASPER!!!

Jasper's father rushed him to the hospital and the doctors immediately took him in to get an MRI on his knee. Jasper sat in a hospital room with his family for an hour devastated and nervous waiting for the results. 

Finally, the doctor walked in with his results and delivered the worst possible news for Jasper. He had completely torn his ACL and would need surgery. Jasper's season was over. 

Jasper was heartbroken and couldn't believe that all his hard work was wasted because of his injury. 

I can't believe my season is over.

Everything is gonna be alright buddy.

Jasper had to get surgery to repair the torn ACL and was forced to watch the rest of his team's season from the sideline. 

The team struggled for the rest of the season without Jasper and lost their first playoff game. A very disappointing season. 

Doctors had told Jasper that he may not be ready to play again until half way through the season next year. But Jasper made a promise to himself that he would work very hard and make it back for the start of the season.
