Tomorrow will be the Chinese New Year, Penny was very excited. Penny lives in Canada, so she couldn’t celebrate Chinese New Year with her whole family, she just have her mom and dad to celebrate with. Usually, this would make her sad, but not this year, her mom, whom she called Ma, told her that they will be going to a Chinese restaurant called The Lucky Dragon. The family decorated their house with Chinese designs like lanterns and New Year scrolls.

After decorating and cleaning the whole house, Ma made a nice dinner of “Eight Treasures Rice”, Penny fell asleep. The next day, the family went shopping for new clothes, Penny bought a red jacket. Then, they went to a place where they can see some performances, Penny met her friend, Emmy there. The two families decided to go to the restaurant together.

When the families entered the restaurant, there were a strong smell of dumplings and soup. Penny’s dad, whom Penny called Ba, ordered a New Year feast for the two families. They talked and laughed until they were full, Emmy decided to have a sleepover at Penny’s house. Penny still have some gifts to open from Ma and Ba, since Emmy is visiting, they decided to give Emmy some gifts too.

Penny received a gift from Ma and Ba, inside was a cute dragon toy. Emmy got a new red dress. The girls were very happy, they watched some New Year shows, and then… Bam! Wam! The fireworks have started! “Look at that!” Emmy shouted. “There are so many colors!” Penny shouted. “Happy New Year!” Ma and Ba said. After the fireworks went out, the girls went to sleep. Emmy and Penny played some rounds of Truth and Dare, finally, they are asleep. 

The next day, Ma called Penny and Emmy downstairs to make dumplings. Ma told them that in one dumpling, she will put a coin in it, the person that eats the dumpling will be lucky in the following year. While the dumplings are cooking, Emmy and Penny went out to play. They built a snowman, but then, they saw a girl sitting on a bench looking worried. “Are you okay?” Penny asked the girl. “ I can’t find my little sister, she’s just 3 years old. Penny and Emmy decided to help the girl.

“When was the last time you have seen your sister?” Emmy asked the girl. “When she was playing on the slide,” “Maybe we can try calling her name, what’s your name anyways?” Penny asked. “My name is  Elena and my sister’s name is Zoey. Also I think your idea is a great idea. What’s your names?” Elena asked. “My name is Penny and her name is Emmy, let’s start finding Zoey!” So off they went looking for Zoey. “Zoey, Zoey!” The girls called. But they still couldn’t find Zoey.
