is for Aerobics.
Aerobics or yoga are great ideas to keep active at home. Finding some fun stretching and dancing games you can play with your child will keep your child active.

is for Bathtime.
Bathing might not be the first thing that comes to your mind when staying healthy. Baths or even showers help remove dirt and germs that can cause health issues for children.

is for Cleaning.

Cleaning is a crucial component of staying healthy at home. This goes from picking up our toys and putting them back where they belong to disinfecting services where things have been exposed to germs or dirt.
"Clean, safe and secure environments contribute to enabling environments for nurturing care" (WHO, 2019)

is for Dress Appropriately.

Wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is a great way to stay healthy at home. This not only helps your child learn how to dress for particular weather but can also help prevent sickness associated with dressing appropriately for the weather.

is for exercise.

As we discussed at the beginning of the book, exercise is vital to staying healthy. The American Heart Association "recommends that preschool-age children should engage in active play as well as structured movement for about 3 hours per day of a variety of activities (light, moderate and vigorous)." (American Heart Association Recommendations for Physical Activity in Kids Infographic, 2018)

is for Food.

Food plays a key component in staying healthy at home. Having the right food in the home is the right start to keeping your children healthy. Starting to teach your kids what everyday food is and what is special food that shouldn't be eaten all the time is something that can start the right track to helping your children learn what is healthy food and what is not.

is for Give Healthy Food.

Sometimes, kids can be picky or set on their favorite food that might not be healthy for everyday food. Making sure you give a wide variety of healthy food options that your kids can try is a way to help them explore healthy food, and who knows, maybe their new favorite food will be something made out of broccoli!

is for Hygiene.

Hygiene is something that can determine whether we stay healthy or not. Hygiene can be washing our hands for at least 20 seconds or wiping and blowing our nose with a tissue instead of our hand or shirt.

is for Introducing Healthy Habits

Children start as blank slates because we are the party responsible for helping children learn good habits that help them get through life. Introducing these healthy habits in this book is a great step in staying healthy at home.

is for Juicing.

When it comes to juicing, I am not talking about the juice that comes with tons of sugar and artificial dyes at the store. I am talking about making homemade juice out of fruits and vegetables at home. This a great way to get your children to get the fruits and vegetables they need in a tasty way!

is for Kiwi.

When thinking about introducing fruit to kids, we mostly think about apples, grapes, or bananas. Thinking about fruits like Kiwi that contain fiber and vitamin C, it is safe to say that this fruit can help keep your child healthy at home.

is for Limit Screen Time.

In today's world, we know so many things contain screens that kids enjoy. These are televisions, phones, or even gaming systems. We should limit the screen time so kids can stay active and use their imagination and play. Kids Health states, "Preschoolers ages 2 to 5 can watch up to 1 hour a day of high-quality educational programming." (Media Use Guidelines: Preschoolers (for Parents) - Nemours KidsHealth, n.d.)

is for Monitor screen time.

We can access so many things on the internet or television. Monitoring what our kids watch or play during their screen time is a great way to keep kids healthy because you can ensure they aren't developing any unhealthy habits.

is for Nap Time.

As adults, we know when we are tired and need to rest. Sometimes it is hard for kids to define their feelings and know that they need to rest to feel better. We should encourage naps for young children to take naps if we see they are showing signs of being tired.

is for Outdoors.

Going outdoors helps kids get fresh air and to stay active as there are so many activities that kids can do outdoors that keep them more active than staying indoors. Plus sunshine is a great source of vitamin D!
