In the year 2025, there was a boarding school called Ace Academy for the the Gifted. And this year there were two 8th graders, Hudson and Everleigh, who were really close friends. This is where our story takes off.
***(Everleigh's POV)***
I was walking to lunch when I spotted Hudson. Just as I was walking over, one of my friends, Maci, pulled me aside to ask me if I liked Hudson.
"Umm......yes, I do. But PLEASE do not tell anyone." I whispered to Maci.
"I would never!" Maci told me.
"Okay, I trust you."
"Great boost of confidence, Evy."
***(Narrator's POV)***
Little did they know, one of the girls from their dormitory and grade, Sophie, overheard this.
Sophie was the biggest gossiper in 8th grade and she secretly was in love with Hudson, even though she knew Hudson liked Everleigh.
One day, she decided to spread some gossip that Hudson called Everleigh a dummy and that she was super annoying.
***(Everleigh's POV)***
"I can't believe he said that! I hate him! I hate him
so very much!" I cried to Sophie and Maci that night. "He's such a jerk!"
***
The next night I met up with Hudson at the edge of the woods on the campus.
"I can't believe you said that! I'm so, so, so, so, so, so mad at you! You just act like my friend and then go talk trash about me! What's the matter with you?!" I yelled at Hudson, whose blonde curls were glimmering in the moonlight.
"Evy! Calm down!" he told me as he grabbed my shoulders and pushed me out of his face. "I didn't say ANY of that. I would never ever say anything like that.
Soph is just a big yapper. She just wants attention and is willing to bring anyone down just so she can get what she wants."
Right when I was about to respond, I burst into tears. "I'm sorry, Hudson. I really truly am. I just.." another tear rolled down my face. "I just thought from the way she said it that it was true. I'm so dumb! I'm such a bad friend! I'm-"
Just as I was about to speak another word, Hudson pulled me into a tight hug.
***(This is now from Hudson's POV)***
Evy looked so upset and the impulse to do something to help her was to strong. So I had embraced her.
"I thought you hated me. I'm, I'm.." Everleigh's voice trailed off. She started crying again, which made my heart throb. "I'm so so sorry."
I had lessened my grip on her, but she clung to me like she was scared of loosing me.
Suddenly, I remembered what she told me once about her family. Everleigh told me that her parents sent her to live with her 21-year-old brother because they didn't want a baby girl. When she was old enough, he sent her to Ace Academy for the the Gifted. And only a few years ago he died in a tragic car crash.
I came back to reality when she let out a loud sob.
"Listen, I'm going to take you back to your dorm and-"
"Please Huddy! Please, please, please don't take me back there. I can't go back there. I can't! I can't trust anyone! So please, please, please, please don't take me there! You're the only person I feel like I could possibly trust so please don't take me back." Everleigh pleaded.
I didn't know what to do, so I picked her up and decided to bring her to my dorm to talk it out and maybe plot some revenge.
Once we reached my dorm, I set her down on my bean bag chair and gave her some tissues. I wasn't sure what to do, so we sat in silence for a while.
"I'm sorry you had to see me like that. It's just," she paused. "It's just so hard right now. I basically only live
