When seven year old Elodie Jones and her six year old brother, Elliot entered the kitchen that morning. Her 16 year big sister, Eden, had already gone to school. And her daddy had left for work. Elodie was in a bad mood. Because her momma and daddy had just told her that they’re going to move to a new house.

Time for breakfast!
Purr
Stop it, Mateo!

So during recess that day, Elodie told her best friend, Selina West about herself moving. Selina wasn’t happy about that too. They discussed how to keep Elodie from moving but they had no idea how to persuade grownups.

Oh no!
I’m moving to Australia!

So that evening, when Elodie came back from school, she went straight up to her bedroom to think. Her cat, Mateo, followed her. Elodie then prepared a list of questions she’ll be asking her parents and the answers she’ll tell them. So that’s what she’ll do, debate with her parents.

Hmm…

This is what she wrote:
Questions: Why do we Answers: Why, I really
to move? Is it really nece- do like this house! Also,
ssary? Will we even take Mateo will be uncomforta-
Mateo with us? ble in the plane! My room
is the biggest room in
the whole wide world!
Can we please don’t go?
Please! Please!

So… Do you think it’s good?

So she went downstairs and into the living room. She called her parents into the room. But after 15 minutes of debating, she lost. Elodie’s parents insist that they move because of her daddy’s new job. Elodie’s daddy’s job was a teacher. When they move to Australia, his job will be a vet.

I’m afraid we can’t, Elodie Marie Jones. Also Mateo is free to come.

Please? My best friend’s here!

So Elodie went back to her room, feeling disappointed. The next day, Elodie and her family went to Selina’s house to discuss about their moving things. Elodie and Selina played with their dolls in Selina’s family room, as you know, they all sleep in one room. Their dolls’ names are Rose and Daisy.

Hi, I’m Rose!
Nice to meet you, Rose. I’m Daisy!

That night, the two families went to have dinner at a restaurant called “The Moving Truck”. That is when Selina’s parents told them that they’re moving to Australia too! Was Elodie happy! It’s okay to move if she had her friend after all.

We’re moving to Australia too!

When the Jones family came home, Elodie wanted to know everything. What house they are living in? Will it be close to Selina’s house? Are they attending the same school? She tossed and turned until she fell asleep.

I’m so excited!

Two months later, it was time for the Jones family to leave. They put Mateo in a cage and in the airplane. They will meet the West family in Australia. Elodie simply jumped with joy when their lunch arrived. Baked potatoes, green peas, steak, and lemonade, all her favorite!

Yum!

Finally, they arrived at their house. It’s a little smaller than the West’s house, but Elodie still liked it. Take a look at their house!

Look at my new house!
