Jasmine and Samuel's teacher planned a school field trip to the Amazon rainforest.  Jasmine asked her brother,“ Are you ready for the trip?” Samuel gave her a nod of approval. Both of them knew that they needed to pack lots of clothes and rain boots for the trip because the rainforest is a very swampy place with lots of wet areas.  Samuel asked Jasmine, “Did you know that  the Amazon rainforest’s volume is greater than the next eight largest rivers combined!” Jasmine nodded.  They were most excited to learn about the new, undiscovered species of plants and animals. Finally, the big day arrived! They grabbed their backpacks, which were as heavy as boulders, and along with  their class, they climbed the stairs of the school bus.

    When Jasmine and Samuel arrived in the rainforest with instructor Charlie, the first thing that they did was put on their rain boots and sun caps.  They knew that the rainforest is a very swampy and wet place. Then Instructor Charlie split the class into groups of two. When Instructor Charlie said that Jasmine and Samuel were in the same group as each other they were jubilant! Then, the class went off to explore and learn about the rainforest. After a while, Jasmine wished they had brought more water and sunscreen. “ I’m glad we didn’t. If we did, then our shoulders would fall off while carrying our bags.” said Samuel.  Jasmine replied, “ Well, it’s  not THAT bad.” That's when they realized they had left their walkie talkies and GPS trackers in the bus! They were lost! Jasmine started to pace around in worry. Samuel tried to calm his sister down with a fact about the rainforest. He said, “ Did you know that the Amazon Rainforest has the richest and most varied plant and animal life in the world!” Jasmine was so worried that she harshly replied, “ I am NOT in the mood for facts!!!!!!! And if you think that is going to calm me down, well NO it is not calming me down Samuel, it is not!.” “Sorry, Jas”, Samuel said.
