I wrote this book because of my love for our Earth. It's so important to learn about all aspects of our world. This book is dedicated to you. You are important to me just as our Earth is important to me. You will continue to learn and grow, just like the plants and animals on our Earth.
Don't be afraid to Soar!
With Love,
Mr. Loyd

Here, in Pennsylvania, we are a forest biome. If you look outside, you might see all kinds of animals. Forest's provide food and shelter for all kinds of different plants and animals.

Animals that live in the forest biome can survive in all seasons of weather. These animals have fur or feathers to keep them warm and dry. These animals make shelter's for themselves within these forest biomes to help them survive. Some of these animals include foxes, deer, birds, squirrels and bears.
This is a desert biome. A desert is very hot, and very dry. Because all deserts get little to no rainfall, they are one of the toughest biome for plants and animals. The temperature is hot during the day and freezing cold at night.
Because of the harsh conditions a desert biome faces, the animals here have to be well adapted. They have to be able to survive the extremes. Animals here, like lizards, are cold blooded. this means they can survive this hot, dry climate. A few animals that live in the desert are camels, snakes, spiders, foxes and lizards.

The arctic tundra biome is the next place we will visit. This biome is very cold. It is so cold, that plants and trees won't survive in this climate. This biome is in the northern most and southern most parts of our planet. The temperature are well below freezing and the ground is covered in snow and ice.
Not a lot of animals are able to live in this extreme cold. Animals like polar bears and arctic hares have thick coats to keep them warm. Penguins are also able to live here because of their waterproof, insulating layer of their fur.

Next, we have the rainforest. A biome like this is warm and rainy all year long. There are many plants, trees and leaves everywhere. This kind of habitat provided shelter and food for all the animals who live here. There is a wide variety of insects, as well as mammals in this biome. These animals are usually unbothered by the human population due to the rough terrain of rainforests.

The rainforest is fascinating. Animals like jaguars and birds live in the big trees. Snakes and frogs live amongst the leaves and bushes. Insects like ants and ladybugs crawl all throughout the biome. A rainforest is a very special place home to many different species of animals.
