When I was young in the hills
We would run around in the grass
Covered with dirt and soil, as a young lass
At the end of the hill, near my childhood home
I made sure not to go, near the cliff near home
Dedication letter is at the end

When I was young in the hills, a kind friend nearby
Nobody could see her, but we would say "Hi!"
When thunder went BOOM! and the shadows loomed
I would go to her and talk till night

Later, at an old school named Sycamore
I wanted to face my fear and try to cross the street floor
But a car came, then 3, then 4
I ran straight back to mom, and cried for her

When I was young in the hills
Everywhere, there was snow
I wanted to build a snowman, and in the snow, I rolled
I went to my mom, to get a carrot nose as well
But as I ran in the snow, I always fell

On my way home, mother laid me down to sleep
She sang a song, where in my heart I keep
A song about a dragon, and a little boy too
I dreamed about a cliff, and a dragon where it flew.

When I was young in the hills
I went to a cabin with my niece, Olivia, and nephew, Lewis
I caught a frog in my palm
It was yellow and green, it was as fragile as a paper sheet
But I had to drop the frog to wash my hand of any disease

Afterward, we went to our sleeping bags
While my sister-in-law, Kimmy, played a few songs
She then left, when she thought we were all asleep
But I was awake, and roamed the cabin with my little bare feet

When I was young in the hills
It was my birthday with chocolate cake
So we invited my friends and family
I was about to blow out the candles
And wonder what wish I would meet
But Liv thought that she would blow out the candles for me

My nephew Lewis climbed a tree with me
That was my first time I ever climbed a tree
We thought we could touch the sky and climb over our neighbors fence
But we didn't because if we did
We would be met with a fierce consequence
