This book is dedicated to my real life dog, Chi-Chi.

Hello! My name is Chi-Chi and this is my family!
PREFACE
For families that immigrate to other countries, it is commonly believed that the sole reason for this move is due to better opportunities. In reality, it is the ever-changing immigration policies and social conditions that affects a family's decision to immigrate. In the reading, "Beyond Smoke and Mirrors," Douglas S. Massey helps explain the varying circumstances that influences immigration and the history behind Mexican immigration policies. It is important for people to understand a family's experiences with immigration so that they can possibly minimize the stereotypes and stigma surrounding newly immigrated families. The purpose of this book is to not only educate children on why families tend to participate in immigration but to also illustrate that while it may be hard, they shouldn't feel any lesser for being in this situation.
Chi-Chi's Parents had some surprising news for him when he came home.
Hello son, we're moving to a new home. I got a job offer in another forest!

What!?!?!?
Chi-Chi became sad when he heard this news so he went to talk to his friends, Colt and Thor. But, they had some news too!

Guys, I have bad news! I'm moving away!

No way! So are we!
Colt explained that he had to move because it wasn't safe for his family.

OH NO!
Thor explained that his home was being destroyed.

Uh Oh!!

Chi-Chi, Colt and Thor all bid each other farewell as they left for their new homes. They were all very sad...

Goodbye guys...
We'll miss you Chi-Chi!

Chi-Chi was very sad he had to move from his home and friends. But, it wasn't long until he met a new friend. Chi-Chi still wasn't happy.

Get away from me!
Hello, my name is Maya!

At their new home, Chi-Chi's Dad saw that Chi-Chi was upset and he knew why.
Listen son, it's okay to be sad but don't feel guilty for moving. Other animals will understand why we had to move and will see you as the fun and kind bird that you are.
Thanks Dad!
After talking with his Dad, Chi-Chi decided to make the most out of his new home, and that includes making new friends...

Over here, Chi-Chi!
