One night underneath the stars, Cow and Ox sat with their father
Camel to discus finances.
2

Camel said, "I want both of you boys to startmaking money. I am giving you each fifty
dollars and at the end of the year, I want you
to show me the money you have earned with
the money I gave you."

3

The boys were excited to hear that they were getting money from their father and ran to the hills
to decide what to do with it.

4

Cow was always the fun kid to have around, but he was irresponsible with money. His first thought
was, "How can I have fun with this money?" So he
squandered his cash at the movies immediately. After
one month, he had nothing left.
5

Ox was always the smart kid with money. His first thoughtwas, "How can I invest this money to make more?" He knew
that delaying gratification by investing money instead
of squandering it would please his father. So he traveled to
the local stockbroker to consider his options.

6

The stockbroker, Fox, had many words of wisdom. He advised Ox to invest his money in the stock market
so that he could generate revenue from dividend
payments and capital gain at the end.
7

Though there could potentially be higher returns for investmentsin high-risk stocks, Fox advised Ox to invest in safer stocks with
lower returns to protect him from losing money. He told Ox about
portfolio diversification and how spreading out investments also
protected against risk.
8

Ox followed all of Fox's advice and watched his moneygrow. He didn't have to sweat on a farm to make money!
Each month, Ox received one dollar in divided
payments. At the end of the year, he sold his stocks at
a higher price than he bought them at and made capital
gains of thirty dollars.
9

When a year had passed, Ox returned to his father toshare the good news about the money he made. He
said, "I invested all fifty dollars in the stock market.
I received twelve dollars in dividends and made thirty
dollars on capital gain. I started with fifty dollars, and
now I have 92, father!"
