About the project

EG2Tv, EGE2Tv, also known as "Ivolga", is a family of 3 kV DC electric trains manufactured at the Tver Carriage Building Plant. 

The EG2Tv electric train is designed for intra-city and suburban passenger transportation on 1520 mm gauge railways. 

The train is designed to replace outdated trains of the ED4 series and ES1 "Lastocka" trains, which use a large number of imported parts. 

The base platform is designed taking into account the possibility of producing modifications for maximum speeds of 120 and 160 km/h, starting with the modification of the EGE2Tv "Ivolga 3", it is a high-speed train. In thefuture, it is planned to increase the speed to 250 km/h. As of 2024, four modifications of the electric train have been created.

History

In 2013, simultaneously with the beginning of the large-scale reconstruction and electrification of the Small Ring of the Moscow Railway for passenger traffic, a competition was announced for the development of DC electric trains for passenger transportation on this line.

In the autumn of 2013, the Tver Carriage Building Plant, which is part of Transmashholding, began developing a conceptually new family of electric trains that could compete with "Lastocka" and could subsequently be used for urban, suburban and interregional passenger traffic.

In April 2021, the development of a new generation Ivolga electric train with a design speed of 160 km/h began. At the same time, the train received a new design, improved traction characteristics and a number of improvements in the cabin including more comfortable seats, new charging connectors, charging stations for electrictransport.

On April 16, 2017, the operation of the first two EG2Tv "Ivolga" trains of the basic modification with passengers on the Kiev direction on the route Moscow-Kievskaya — Novoperedelkino began.

New tecnologies of the project

The "Ivolga 3.0" is faster than its predecessors due to dynamic acceleration and braking.

The wagons are equipped with climate control and air disinfection systems. Adaptive lighting is also provided. In the morning, the lamps give a bright and invigorating cold light, and in the evening, on the contrary, soft and soothing.

The third-generation "Ivolga" has more comfortable chairs, more seats, 1.6 thousand chargers, including for electric scooters.

Thanks to the appearance of a third door in carriages, passengers can get on and off the train faster: the time for boarding and disembarking is reduced to 30%.
