This book is dedicated to my loving parents, Maternal Grandparents who have always believed in me and supported my dreams.

Once upon a time, in a small island town called Funchal, in Madeira, Portugal, a baby boy was born on February 5, 1985. His name was Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. His family was not rich. His father, José Dinis Aveiro, worked as a gardener and also helped at a local football club as a kit man. His mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, worked as a cook and cleaner to support the family. Ronaldo had one brother and two sisters. Even though they did not have much money, they were a close and loving family.

From the time he was a little boy, Ronaldo loved football more than anything else. He didn’t care about toys or games — all he wanted was a football. He would play for hours in the narrow streets of Madeira with his friends, using whatever he could find as goalposts. His talent was clear even at that young age. Everyone in his neighborhood noticed that Ronaldo was not just good — he was special. He could run fast, dribble with great skill, and had a powerful kick for his age.

When Ronaldo was just 8 years old, he joined a small local football club called Andorinha, where his father worked. His coach was amazed at how talented and hardworking he was. Later, he joined another team called Nacional, one of the best clubs in Madeira. Ronaldo’s performance there was outstanding, and soon, people began talking about this young boy who could become the future star of Portugal.

At the age of 12, Ronaldo moved to Lisbon to join the famous football academy of Sporting Lisbon. It was a big change for him. He had to leave his family and home behind and live in a new city. It was very difficult for young Ronaldo because he missed his parents, but he never gave up. He focused on football and practiced every single day. His dedication and determination were unmatched.

When Ronaldo was 15 years old, something terrible happened. One day during training, he suddenly felt dizzy and fainted on the ground. Everyone was scared. The coach immediately told Ronaldo’s father to take him to a doctor. After several medical tests, the doctors discovered that Ronaldo had a heart problem called tachycardia, which means his heart beat too fast. The doctors said that if he wanted to live a normal life, he would need surgery. They also warned that he might never play football again if the operation didn’t go well.
Ronaldo’s parents were heartbroken. His mother wanted him to stop playing football because she was afraid of losing him. But Ronaldo was brave. He told his parents that football was his life and he wanted to take the risk. Finally, his parents agreed to the surgery. The doctors used a laser to fix his heart, and luckily, the operation was successful. Just a few days later, Ronaldo was back at training again — stronger than before.
His hard work and spirit soon paid off. At only 16 years old, Ronaldo started playing for Sporting Lisbon’s senior team. In his very first match, he impressed everyone with his amazing skills, speed, and goal-scoring ability. During one match against Manchester United, his brilliant performance caught the eye of the famous coach Sir Alex Ferguson. After the game, Manchester United decided to sign him. In 2003, at just 18 years old, Ronaldo moved to England to play for Manchester United.
At first, life in England was not easy. Ronaldo didn’t speak English well and missed his family a lot. But he worked very hard and trained for hours every day. Under Sir Alex Ferguson’s guidance, he improved his game and became one of the best players in the world. Ronaldo played for Manchester United for six years and scored 196 goals. He helped the team win many trophies, including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2008. That same year, he won his first Ballon d’Or, the award given to the best football player in the world.
