The Preamble
What does the preamble really mean? 




To make the United States better, the citizens:
-establish austere authority
-ensure national peace
-provide common protection
-promote the overall well-being
-and secure the immutable blessings of
freedom to ourselves and our children.

Article 1: The Legislative Branch
This branchengenders laws.


The Legislative branchis made up of The House
of Representatives and the
senate.



The House of RepresentativesThere are 435 seats in the Houseof Representatives. Each representative
can only serve for 2 years. Their current salary
is $174,000!

What are the qualifications?
To be a representative, you must:-be at least 25 years old
-have been a citizen at least 7 years
-live in the state you were chosen.

How does a bill become a law?
1. idea
2. congressman writes the idea
3. goes to committee & debates
4. the house votes on it




5. if it passes, it then ascends to the
senate
6. gets sent to president (signs or vetos)
7. if its a veto, it goes back to the senate.
(2/3 of the senate needs to vote to
override the veto.)



Article 2: The Executive Branch
This branch enforces laws.

Qualifications:
-innate citizen
-at least 35 years old
-at least 14 years a resident of the U.S.
Term Length:
4 years
Current Salary:
$400,000
Powers of the President:
the commander and chief of the army and
navy, and to grant reprieves and pardons
for offenses against America.

Impeachment
Impeachment is the process in which an
official is accused of unlawful activity.
This may include the official being
removed from office, and will include the
defamation of the president.
Reasons for Impeachment
treason, bribery, or other high crimes

Order of Presidential Succession
1. vice president
2. speaker of the house
3. president pro term of the senate
4. secretary of state
5. secretary of the treasury
6. secretary of defense
7. attorney general
In other words, who will become president when the president dies?


The Electoral College
Did you know that when people vote,
they're not really voting for the president?
People actually vote for electors who then
vote for the president. This is knows as the
electoral college.

-There are 538 electoral votes in the U.S.
-270 out of 538 are needed to win the
Presidency.
Arkansas has 6 electoral votes!


Article 3: The Judicial Branch
This branchinterprets laws.
