In ancient years our only prize was a wreath made of an olive tree branch.
Nowadays the winner gets a gold, silver or bronze medal.
The motto of the Olympics is a three-word Latin phrase: Citius, Altius, Fortius. "Faster, higher, stronger. the expression that means " advises the athlete not to become the first, but to do his best. Another meaning of the slogan is: "The most important thing is not to win, but to participate".

The Olympic rings were first used by Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1914. Pierre de Coubertin was the founder of the modern Olympic Movement.
Pierre saw a similar design with circles on an artefact from ancient Greece.


The five rings of the Olympic flag symbolize the five continents of the world linked together in friendship.

Οι Χειμερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες είναι μια σημαντική διεθνής διοργάνωση πολλαπλών αθλημάτων που πραγματοποιείται μία φορά κάθε τέσσερα χρόνια για αθλήματα που ασκούνται σε χιόνι και πάγο. Οι πρώτοι Χειμερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες, οι Χειμερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες του 1924 , πραγματοποιήθηκαν στο Σαμονί της Γαλλίας.

After the fisrt lightning, the olympic flame travels through Greece by a torch and ends its journey to the country that hosts the Olympic Games. The country that hosts the Olympic Games designes its own torch. ( Nikisiani's Kindergarten)
