Chapter 1
I am a 9 year old girl with a love of running I enjoy playing soccer and doing many other sports. Tomorrow is my cross country and I really want to win! Can I do it?
I crawl into bed ready and excited for the amazing day coming ahead. I am so
excited for tomorrow.
Chapter 2
I wake up as I feel excitement bubble through me. I jump out of my bed and I run downstairs to have my breakfast. I have my favourite cereal filled with vitamins and milk. I keep
thinking about the awesome cross country.
I finish my breakfast, I run to the bathroom to go and brush my teeth. I squirt my blue bubble gum flavoured toothpaste onto my pink tooth brush.
I get on my shorts and my team's
jersey, with a lot of light blue on it. I am so excited! I brush my hair. I pack my school bag... "What! It's already 7:45am! I need to be at school by 8:30am!" I shouted feeling frightened and worried. I feel the adrenalin rushing through me as my quickly pack my bag and put on my sneakers.
I rush out of the house and run to school. I arrived at half way and I realise that I have wasted my energy!
I walk the rest of the way. I look at my yellow watch and it says 8:29am! I am shocked! I must walk a lot faster or I'm going to be late!
Chapter 3
I arrive at school as my class is marking the roll. I have arrived two minutes late, but luckily my class hasn't left without me.
"Ok, everyone's here 4K! We are now going to go to our amazing cross country." Said Mr King. I gasp as I notice a girl called Mivy, she is on the green team and she is in the same
age group as me. This means we are in the same race. But, I don't want to be in the same race as her. She is too fast and sporty for me, so she is going to be very hard to beat.
I feel very worried as I walk with my class.
Cold water drops down my face as I realise they are tears. I take deep breathes as I know I shouldn't worry and, I should still try my best.
I start to feel better as I here someone calling my name in the distance. " Hey Selena! Ha, ha. You think you're going to come first don't you?'" Said Mivy in a weird voice.
I open my mouth with worries as I say "Yeah, I really want to come first. It's been my goal for many years and I still haven't achieved it yet."
"Well guest what? I'm going to come first not you! Ha, ha" Mivy says in her mean voice with laughter.
I ignore her as I start to doubt myself. I never knew Mivy was a mean girl I thought she was very kind. Maybe she was just telling me that I shouldn't try my hardest.
I let these horrible thoughts swell around my brain as I start to think positively.
I know that she was trying to be mean which is the wrong thing to do and she can't decide what I choose to do, so I decide to Not Give Up!
Chapter 4
We arrive at the cross country as I can
smell the fresh green grass surrounding me. I walk to the section for my team and I sit down. I eat my bright yellow banana and I have some water from my bottle which has a lot of blues and greens mixed together. It looks very pretty just like the ocean.
"Welcome to our amazing cross country today," Said Mrs Allie on the loud speaker. Mrs Allie is our Deputy principle. She has light blonde skin, and dark black hair. She has beautiful green eyes ,that is bright and beautiful like the grass surrounding us. Mrs Allie is very pretty and kind.
"We have a lot of races today, so make sure you are always listening just in case we have any announcements," Said Mrs Allie in her kind and warming voice.
Chapter 5
I am so bored. I have been waiting
for a vey long time and they haven't announced my race yet! I feel worries racing up into my brain. I start to panic, I don't know what to do. I breathe in and out slowly as I think of a solution.
I quickly walk to Mrs Allie.
"Mrs Allie, has the 9 year old girls race started yet?" I asked feeling a bit worried.
Mrs Allie slowly looks at a sheet she is holding in her hands.
Mrs Allie sighs.
"I announced it two minutes ago," Mrs Allie replied.
My heart start racing in fear have I missed my race?
"Don't worry Selena," Said Mrs Allie in her warming voice. I start to feel comfort filling me up with happiness inside me. Her kind comment made me feel a lot better.
"Quickly run over there! They are lining
up because they about to start the race," Said Mrs Allie.
"Ok, Thank You," I replied. I quickly ran there as I started to line up with them.
