Sparkle Fish and her family live in the calm part of the Pacific, where Sparkle attends Coral Elementary School. She loves school.
Sparkle is a good student and always gets excellent grades on all her tests and assignments. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fish, are very proud of how smart she is.
She has plenty of friends who she loves to talk to.
Sparkle’s only problem is that she is forgetful.
She forgets to clean out her tackle box after school.
She forgets to detangle her seaweed after she sleeps.
Most worrying of all is that sometimes Sparkle forgets to check her Coral School agenda. She knows that every day after school, she has to bring her agenda to either Mr. or Mrs. Fish and get them to sign off. Is this a problem?
One day, Sparkle was in class half listening to Mrs. Atlantis. She was focused on whispering to some of her friends next to her. They were talking about their plans for recess in about twenty minutes.
She sort of heard what her teacher was saying, but it wasn't close to the first thought in her mind.
As it turns out, Mrs. Atlantis was reminding the class to get their agendas signed because anyone who did would get not just one but two sea tokens to add to their savings for prizes.
Sparkle loves to save her sea tokens, she likes to save them up so she can have the choice of any prize she wants.
When she got home that night, Sparkle knew she had no homework to do, so she played in the reef with some of her friends.
Then, she was called in for dinner. At the dinner table, they talked about her and her siblings’ days and even brought up any assignments they had to do. Sparkle just shook her head no.
The next day at school, they reviewed their addition methods.
Then they had reading circle.
After lunch it was time to check agendas. “Open your agendas, everyone! Remember anyone who got theirs signed gets two sea tokens for responsibility." Mrs. Atlantis yelled.
Sparkle’s heart sank.
She wanted those tokens so bad! But it was too late now… Or was it? Maybe she could act like she got it signed and earn the tokens anyway. Mrs. Atlantis would never know the difference.
