Maggie and Austin have been stuck in the house all day.

They both want to go outside, but the rain won't stop.
Maggie sat on the couch staring at the ceiling while Austin was on his phone. The house is silent and dark.

I'm bored!

They hear a sound from upstairs and both glance at the stairs. Dad zooms down the staircase.

“Do you guys want to go out to dinner with our friends Mike and Sandy?”
“But you guys will have to behave!” Mom shouted from upstairs.

Without hesitation, they both hop up and start putting their shoes on.

Maggie opens the front door and they both race to the car. Dad waits for Mom to come down the stairs and they head out of the house.

Mom and Dad jump into the car and pull out of the driveway.
They were so excited!

Dad said, “I can't wait to get a burger from our favorite restaurant!” Maggie said, “I can't wait to get dessert!”

“Me too!” comments Austin. The parents giggled at each other.

Maggie and Austin were sitting in the back, patiently waiting to get to the restaurant.

When they arrived, there were so many people. The parking lot was overflowing.
There are so many people!

Dad parked in the grass on a big hill. Dad tells Maggie to leave the car the other way because of the hill.
Go the other way Maggie!

She shimmies her way to the opposite side. As she exited the car, the door slammed shut with a boom.

A horrible scream came out of Maggie. “OUCH!!!” She screamed.

OUCH!

“Are you ok?” Austin screams while standing on the other side. He glances at Mom and Dad in shock.

Are you ok?!

They sprint their way over to Maggie. She shot down to the ground and started bawling her eyes out.

The car door shut on her finger, which was bright red! Mom said, “Dad told you to go the other way so this wouldn’t happen!”

Dad told you to go the other way so this wouldn’t happen!

Maggie tries not to shed more tears., and glances up to them. “I am ok, I only jammed it!” Maggie utters.

I just jammed it!

Are you sure Maggie?
Yeah, it is fine, it just hurts!
