The term ''upcycling '' was coined in 1994 by German engineer Reiner
Pliz.He suggested new value must be added instead of recycling, leading to the term of upcycling.
During World War II , the British Ministry of information initiated the 'Make Do and Mend ''as a response to resource scarcity and clothing rationing. This early initiative embraced the essence of upcycling.
WHAT IS UPCYCLING?
What is upcycling?
During wartime , resource shortages led to a surge in upcycling as a matter of necessity.Materials like cloth , paper and sacks were repurposed with innovation.
So, upcycling is the use of waste materials to provide useful products.
So, upcycling is a creative reuse of an object of greater value from a discarded object of lesser value.
So, upcycling is the process of transforming waste, useless or unwanted products into new materials

WHAT IS RECYCLING?
Recycling refers to the process of converting waste materials into new objects or materials. As an alternative to conventional waste disposal, recycling focuses on saving valuable materials and using these materials to form new ones.
Recycling involves melting down the raw material to be moulded into new product. The original product gets destroyed in the process, but the materials are reused to create another product.
For example, when you finish reading a newspaper and put it in the recycling bin, it is taken away to a factor and turned into new paper that can be used again.
If you see this symbol
on an object, it means
that it can be recycled.

HOW DO WE RECYCLE?
The recycling process starts with you placing the right items in your bin.A recycling bin (or recycle bin) is a container used to hold recyclables before they are taken to recycling centers. Recycling bins exist in various sizes for use inside and outside of homes, offices, and large public facilities. Separate containers are often provided for paper, tin or aluminum cans, and glass or plastic bottles, with some bins allowing for commingled, mixed recycling of various materials.
Recycling bins are typically color-coded to help users differentiate between the types of waste each bin is meant to collect. The colors used can vary from place to place.

We put our rubbish in right recycling bin and a truck comes to collect and take it to a recycling center. The rubbish is sorted, put in large bundles and taken to factories where it is turned into something new.

BENEFITS OF RECYCLING?
Recycling protects ecosystem and wildlife.
Recycling brings communities together and helps people raise money for schools, colleges, hospitals, and more.
