PLANTATIONS :
The settlers took away the land of the American people by force thereafter they set up large plantations in the Southern State of America, they did not have enough people to do the work on the land therefore they imported the west Africa, On the land the slaves cropped tobacco, rice , sugar cane and cotton.
Tobacco- slaves were used to plant and grow tobacco, dry its leaves and pack it to be ready for transportation to England.
Rice- Rice grew well in its inland swamps and could be sold at high price to England
Sugarcane- It was in demand to sweeten drinks and food, cane plants were cropped and the stems were refined to make sugar.
Cotton- It was used to make clothes, the seeds inside the raw cotton had to be removed

Reasons for using slave labour:
The settlers started taking the land which originally belonged to the indigenous native American people, the native Americans refused to lose their land which caused an effect on their communities, the native Americans who survived did not want to work for the settlers on the land that belonged to them.
The settlers came up with a solution to import the slaves from Africa to work on their plantations however the profit was for the plantation owners.

HOW SLAVES WERE CAPTURED, SOLD AND TRANSPORTED FROM WEST AFRICA:
Millions of West African people were taken and transported to America, they were referred to as slaves.
They were taken across the Atlantic ocean in slave ships, in a trade referred to as the transatlantic slave trade.
The African kings allowed the Europeans to exchange good for slaves.
The captives were:
>marched to the European slave trading forts on the coast
>kept in prisons called barracoons
>sold to a slave trading company and put on the slave ship
>branded with a red-hot iron which marks the slave trading company
>packed into ships thereafter taken across the ocean

Your narrative must:
>be one page long
>include how you were captured, sold and transported from west Africa
>include how you felt during the process of being captured and transported

Slave markets:
The slave markets were in America, .after the slaves got off the ships in America, they were sold at the slave markets.
The white men would shout out the price they were willing to pay for the slave being sold, the man with the highest offering bought the slave.
