Once upon a time in a small sunny town of Liberia, there lived a young boy named Amara. He had a perfect routine: waking up at 7AM, feeling refreshed and ready for the day. He would eat breakfast with his family, go school, play with friends and get to bed by 10PM. His sleep-wake cycle was perfect, giving him plenty of energy to enjoy every single day.

One summer, when Amara turned 16, he decided to take on a part-time job to earn some extra money. He found a job at a local bakery that he loved visiting, this required him to work the night shift from 10PM to 6AM. His first night at the bakery was exciting as the bakery was quiet and he enjoyed the peacefulness of the night however as hours passed, he started to feel really tired.

His eyes felt heavy, and he had to fight to stay awake. When he finally finished his shift and went home, the sun was already up. He crawled into bed and fell asleep instantly, not waking up until the afternoon. Over the next few weeks, Amara's sleep-wake cycle changed completely. He was now awake all night and slept during the day. This new routine was called a circadian phase disorder, specifically caused by his shift work. His body was used to being awake during day time and sleep at night, and this sudden change confused him his internal clock.

As time went on, Amara started to feel the effects of his disrupted sleep-wake cycle. He found it hard to fall asleep during day because of the sunlight keeping him awake. His room was never dark enough, and noise from outside made it difficult to sleep soundly. He began to feel constantly tired making it harder for him to concentrate on daily tasks. Amara missed out on spending time with his family and friends because he was asleep when they are awake.

So then, Amara knew something had to change, he spoke to the bakery boss and explained his situation. His boss understood and agreed to switch him to a daytime shift. It took time however slowly Amara's sleep-wake cycle returned back to normal as he woke up with the sun again and his energy came back.

.

He learned an important lesson from his adventure as he realised how crucial a regular sleep-wake cycle was for his well-being. And so, Amara returned to his cheerful self, enjoying each day with a smile, and he made sure to always get a good night's sleep, no matter what came his way.
