Raymond and James are in my second grade class. Raymond is at grade level expectations, he excels in the classroom and enjoys playing activities outside. James is below grade level expectations, he often struggles in the classroom. He has very little friends and is not very active.

By second grade, children are beginning to spend more time sitting at a desk in a classroom. They will have improved handwriting with more legible and consistent letter sizes. Their vocabulary will have increased with them having the ability to express thoughts and ideas more clearly. Outside the classroom, their bodies will have grown to have better coordination and balance. Which help students with activities like running, hopping, and skipping.

Raymond's home life
Raymond's parents have successful careers and they are still married. Raymond is the youngest and has two older brothers. They play with him often. When his parents have free time, they will take the family out to amusement parks and live sports. Raymond has many friends in the neighborhood, he is always outside running around playing games.

David's home life
David's mother is a single parent with 4 kids. David is the only boy and is the youngest. He has three older sisters. They look after him but never want to play with him. He is always in his room by himself playing video games. When he does go outside, he will sit alone and just watch the other kids play in the neighborhood. Davis is tall and really skinny. His body structure is different then other kids. He has a hard time maintain his balance and often falls when he runs so he never does.
