New Puppy

Elise wanted to get a new puppy. But first, she needed to convince the dog of the house.

Dear Lola,

I think a new puppy would be great for you.

You will have a new friend to play with

when we are away. I know that you feel

lonely when we are at school and work.

Imagine having another dog to run and 

play with. You won’t even notice we are 

gone.

So Elise wrote Lola a letter....

But Lola did not like the idea of a new puppy in the house....

Dear Human,

I like my time of solitude. It is when I get

My best naps in. Also, have you considered

The cons of a new puppy. The new pup will 

chew up all of your shoes. I am already a trained 

professional, so you do not have to worry about such 

Things with your existing perfect dog. Can you imagine

Coming home to all of your favorite shoes ripped

Across the floor?

Elise was determined...

Dearest Lola,

I can understand your concerns about training.

Rest assured, the new puppy will come to the home

Already housebroken. We won’t have to deal with

The training whatsoever. Nor will we need to worry

About shoes being eaten. Have you heard that 

Dogs that have a sibling dog live longer and 

Happier lives?

Lola still was not convinced....

Dear Human who is pushing their luck,

Getting a new puppy will make me feel sad. Have you 

Heard the depression rate for dogs when a new puppy

Enters the home? It is a terrifying statistic. You wouldn’t 

Want to break my little heart now would you?

But, Elise persisted. She was going to convince Lola if it was the last thing she did....

Dear the best and most amazing dog in the world,

I have actually heard the opposite. I heard that introducing a new

Puppy to an older dog will help your older pet to feel 7 years 

Younger. I have also heard that it will increase you ability to play

For longer. Not to mention a snuggle buddy when we are not 

Home.

Lola tilted her head and considered this new development....

Dear Human,

A new snuggle buddy would be nice. I do like to be warm

And cuddled up with a blanket. Perhaps having another 

Warm dog with me might help me be even more snuggly.

Also, feeling younger may not be the worst idea.
