Once upon a time in the small town of Willow Creek, there lived a girl named Lily. Standing at just four feet and nine inches, Lily was the smallest kid in her school. With tangled chestnut hair and bright green eyes, she often felt ignored. The other kids, all taller and more confident, would tease her unstoppably. They called her "Short Stack" and "Tiny winy," and each day, she'd walk into the school with a heavy heart and decided to remain invisible.
Lily loved exploring nature on her own, finding comfort among the tall trees and colorful wildflowers that lined the outer areas of town. Her secret safety/safe place was a hidden land, just behind a hill, where she would escape the laughter and loud insults of her classmates. It was here that she accidentally came upon a weird old well, its stones weathered but strong.
One day, feeling especially down after a rough day at school, she plopped down beside the well and cried out, "I just wish I could be tall like everyone else!" To her surprise, a soft, sweet-sounding voice shook from a loud sound from within the well, "Every inch of you holds the heart of a lion, dear child. Tallness may come, but true strength comes from within."
Though full of doubt, Lily felt comforted by the mysterious voice. She decided she would prove to herself that height didn't decide her worth. In the following weeks, she poured her energy into her own personal growth. She began running, biking, and exploring every nook of Willow Creek, building her physical strength and confidence.
The more time she spent outside and away from school, the more tough she became. She discovered a love for sports, doing an excellent job in soccer and basketball, where her speed more than made up for her height. She learned to stand tall in her own way, her spirit flying beautifully, increasing above the teasing and mean, teasing statements.
As the seasons changed, Lily began to (see something amazing and interesting. While her peers remained at their previous heights, she was growing quickly. With each passing month, she grew taller, surprising herself more than anyone else. By the time summer arrived, she had gone past most of her classmates, reaching five feet and five inches.
