The night before Halloween is busy for Lilly's family. Costumes, decorations, candy....

Lilly! Go and get your costume so you can be ready for tomorrow!

Nyla! Get out of my room!
Nope! I need to get my costume too!

The next day, Lilly's friends were waiting for her outside. Even Nyla.
Hey Lilly!
How are you?
Hey sis
But as Lilly checked the weather, she was concerned.

I'm not sure we'll be able to trick or treat. There's a storm coming.

It does look quite gloomy.
Aw, but I was looking forward to this!
Just then, the rain starts to fall. Lilly and her friends quickly run home. Drenched and soaked, they enter the house.
"Oh no you don't," Lilly's mother says. "Just because there's a storm doesn't mean you can muck up my house! Take your shoes off and I'll bring towels!" Lilly's mother went upstairs muttering about how much work she'd have to do.
The girls watched silently as the rain speckled the cold window loudly.
"So much for Halloween," Nyla said sadly.
"It's okay Nyla, once the storm stops we'll be able to go trick-or-treating again," Lilly reassured her. Suddenly, the lights turned off and everything went black.
Somebody screamed.
"It's okay!" Lilly said calmly. "It's just a power outage,"
The girls relaxed, but tensed up again when a loud thunderbolt struck across the sky. Soon the storm became quiet, only the pitter-patter of the rain.
"Is it over?" asked one of Lilly's friends, Ava, who was dressed as a princess with a purple dress.
Then, the rain started to whisper. It became louder and louder, slowly forming words until it finally made sense.
