Tommy wasn't really scared of the dark. He was just a little bit curious. Every night, he'd pretend to be asleep while listening to the creaks and groans of his old house. One night, he heard a soft scratching sound coming from under his bed.
Tommy wasn't really scared of the dark. He was just a little bit curious. Every night, he'd pretend to be asleep while listening to the creaks and groans of his old house. One night, he heard a soft scratching sound coming from under his bed.
Tommy's heart pounded. He pulled the covers over his head, but the scratching grew louder. Finally, he couldn't resist. With a deep breath, he slid out of bed and peered underneath.
There, in the dusty shadows, was a tiny, furry creature. It had big, round eyes and long, floppy ears. Tommy's fear melted away.
"Hello there," he whispered.
The creature looked up, startled. Then, it let out a tiny squeak and scurried away. Tommy chased after it, but it was too fast. When he finally caught up, the creature had vanished.

As Tommy climbed back into bed, he smiled. The monster under his bed wasn't so scary after all. It was just a little, lost friend. He decided to name it "Shadow." From then on, every night, Tommy would leave a small crumb of bread under his bed for Shadow. And every morning, the crumb would be gone.

Tommy knew Shadow was still there, watching over him, a friendly monster in the dark. He often wondered what Shadow did during the day. Did it play in the garden? Did it explore the attic? Tommy would sometimes hear a soft rustle or a tiny squeak coming from different parts of the house, and he knew it was Shadow.
One night, as Tommy was drifting off to sleep, he felt a gentle touch on his hand. He opened his eyes and saw Shadow sitting beside him on the bed. Its big, round eyes sparkled with curiosity. Tommy reached out and gently stroked Shadow's fur. It purred softly.

From that night on, Shadow became Tommy's secret companion. They would often play together, Shadow chasing after imaginary bugs or hiding beneath Tommy's blanket. Tommy loved having a friend who lived in such an unusual place. He knew that no matter how dark the night might be, he would never be truly alone.
As Tommy grew older, Shadow remained his constant companion. They would often have long conversations, Shadow listening attentively to Tommy's thoughts and feelings. Tommy would tell Shadow about his dreams, his fears, and his hopes. Shadow would always offer a comforting purr or a gentle touch.
