Once, in a small town, there was a deeply rooted belief that seeing a large, dark butterfly inside your home would bring terrible luck. Many families had passed down stories from generation to generation, warning their children never to allow such a butterfly to stay in their house.
One evening, Maria sat quietly in her living room, reading a book. As she turned the page, a sudden movement caught her eye. A massive, black butterfly had flown in through the open window. Her heart skipped a beat, and a cold shiver ran down her spine. Maria had always heard the tales, but she never truly believed them until now.

She remembered her grandmother saying, "If you see a dark butterfly, you must try to get rid of it quickly." But Maria was frozen with fear. The butterfly's wings flapped slowly as it landed on the windowsill, as if it knew it had been seen. She wanted to get up and chase it out, but her legs felt too heavy, as if they were rooted to the floor. Her hands began to tremble, and an overwhelming sense of dread filled her chest.

The air in the room seemed to grow colder. Maria could feel her heartbeat growing louder, almost echoing in her ears. The thought of bad luck terrified her. She imagined all the horrible things that could happen to her or her family. It felt like a dark cloud had descended upon her, suffocating her with fear and anxiety.

Finally, gathering all her courage, Maria stood up and walked slowly toward the butterfly. Her heart raced as she grabbed a piece of cloth, trying to gently shoo it out the window. The butterfly fluttered its wings but remained still, as if daring her to touch it. With trembling hands, she waved the cloth, and the butterfly flew out into the night.

As soon as it left, Maria collapsed into her chair, her whole body shaking with relief. But the feeling of unease lingered, and she couldn't help but wonder if the butterfly had already brought its curse into her home. She tried to calm herself, thinking that maybe it was just a superstition. But deep inside, the fear remained, like a shadow in the corner of her mind.

From that day on, every time Maria heard the wind rustling or saw a shadow move, she would remember the butterfly. She never left her windows open at night again, hoping to avoid the dark omen returning.
