Gentle waves lapped against the shore. They were aqua blue, foamy and calm. The sky darkened, forming white stars. Tera and her grandmother were sitting on a small wooden boat, sharing events and stories together. Tera was a child, 4 years old, with hair as black as night. Her turquoise eyes sparkled like the ocean, beautiful and bright. “Please, Grandma. I want another story.” She begged. Her grandmother cracked a small but sad smile, and adjusted her black reading glasses. Her hair was turning grey and white, and she was 97 years old. Her grandma and her had a secret power,
Something only she and Tera shared. But she would never tell Tera. She always told her to figure it out herself. “Very well, dear child. But you may not like it. This is about Liu Tang, my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. She paused several times to take a breath. Tera’ grandma looked Tera right in the eye. “Yah sure about this?” She asked. Tera nodded. Her grandmother took in one more deep breath, and the story begin.
Liu’s Evil Mission
“It begin with a small light .” Tera’s grandmother said. “The light was filled with so much nitrogen and helium in it, There was a day when it burst.” Tera’s eyes widened. She tried to picture how that looked like. Tera ended up with a satisfying image of a ball of light exploding into dark space. It was so powerful, so bright, It exploded and succumbed to the pressure. “The light exploded, but it didn’t ruin anything. Instead, a new planet formed, beautiful and unique. It had grassy, green land that stretched for miles and
miles. It had clear blue skies, and dark nights with twinkling white stars. The planet also created land suitable for creatures. Then the animals and humans were born. Also, there was a new light. This time it had a medium size, and it shined warm golden rays at the earth. Crops would grow, and everyone would sink into the light’s warmth. They called it, “The Sun.” The sun was aligned to the sky, never to fall down, even shot. Until one, horrible person took over.” Tera’s grandma paused, her breaths coming short and shallow. Her grandmother’s turquoise eyes glazed and filled with sorrow and anger.
“That person’s name was Liu Tang.” Tera gasped, hardly believing her ears. “But the Tang’s are the good people!” She argued. “ Liu Tang would never do something that wrong.” Tera shook her head again and again. But her grandmother just sighed. “Just trust me, Tera.” Tera opened her mouth to protest, but it automatically slammed shut. Her grandma continued with the story. “Liu Tang was a very handsome young man. He had spiky black hair, and piercing blue eyes. Liu Tang was young and handsome, someone that any girl would like. One day, another beautiful maiden appeared and
asked Liu Tang to marry her. She had soft and silky black hair, and dark, creamy brown eyes. That girl also had perfect and sweet features, as beautiful as a forest of sweetness. Liu Tang immediately agreed, but he had other secret plans to use her. The girl was overjoyed, and told Liu that her name was Riana. Liu invited her to have the coronation at his house, and Riana beamed and said, “Whatever it is, Liu.” At their first week, Liu started communicating with Riana and giving her requests. “Riana, do you know anything about the sun? How can it be broken? I want to know that to protect
the sun from the robbers and stuff. “ Liu Tang glanced out the window and glared at the sun. Gullible as she was, Riana beamed. “Oh, my love, you have such a big heart. I’ll tell you. I am the sun. To break the sun is to break me. Now please don’t tell anyone else. Liu felt a flash of wicked triumph. He finally knew how to break it! “It’s okay, Riana, I won’t tell anyone. Men’s promise.
The next day, Liu Tang woke up early, and decided to break Riana. An idea shot up in his head, and he grinned. It was amazingly good. No matter what, it could definitely beat Riana. Riana was so gullible, and she loved him. He layed out strong, rope bonds at his work table, and then went to Riana’s room. He bond her feet and hands together, and strapped a black blindfold around her eyes. Liu also gagged her with a sickly sweet green cloth, and he checked twice to make sure her bonds were tight.
Breaking the Sun
Riana woke up to the cold, sliced rope on her hands. Bonds. Cold and tight. A blindfold was wrapped around her eyes, and her mouth was covered, preventing her from screaming for help. Riana was so confused and concerned. She struggled against the bonds with all her might, but no matter what, they wouldn’t budge. “Now, patience, dear. Let the pain break you.” A very familiar voice. Liu! Riana let out a muffled scream. Liu did this. Liu Tang did this. Though hard to believe, he had. He had betrayed her with one whip. The pain
