Mammals are warm blooded animals that have fur and produce milk for their live born babies. My mammal is a Bactrian Camel that lives in the deserts of Central and East Asia. Their fur becomes thick for the winter and sheds in spring.

Bactrian Camels have 2 humps on their back to store fat and energy. They are mainly herbivores but can eat fish and bones too. These camels are 7 feet tall and can weigh up to 1800 pounds. They can also run up to 60 miles per hour!

A Bactrian Camel is born alive with its eyes open and within a couple of hours the baby camel can walk and run. They usually weigh around 79 pounds at birth. Until 2, the baby will need its mother to provide milk.

Then, the baby camel begins to eat normal food. baby camel takes about 5 to 8 years to mature and become an adult. During that time, the baby will live closely with its mother and herd. Herds are usually 6-20 camels with a head adult male. Once mature, the now adult camel will separate from it's mother and may even start its own family.

An adult female camel can have a baby once it's 5. When pregnant, they will carry the baby for 12-15 months before giving birth. A female camel will be pregnant for 12-15 months before giving live birth to a baby.

Usually, the leading adult male of the herd will be the father of the baby. And, it is normal for a camel to have one baby every year around March and April. Once a baby is born a new life cycle begins and the process continues until it passes away.

Camel's usually live for an average of 30 years, but can get up to 50 years old in the wild before dying. They have many predators such as Leopards, Wolves, and Humans. They also commonly pass away due to parasites from their habitat.
