1.Supernatural Involvement: When the crew had finally repaired the ship
the wind god Aeolus sent a wind to carry the GPS instructions to
Odysseus.
2.Epic Convention: The story begins in medias res; Odysseus and his men
have already been mapping the sea for years having faced countless
perils and brutal storms.
3.Hero's Importance: The world is relying on dauntless oceanographer
Odysseus to take on the titanic task of traveling and mapping the unknown
regions of Earth's abundant waters.

The world renowned oceanographer, Odysseus,
and his loyal crew were on an expedition to map
the 90% of unexplored sea that covered the Earth.
He was the only explorer brave enough to take on
this daunting task and the discovery of the
knowledge of what lies beneath our oceans was up
to him. Having already been on their expedition for
over ten years and unearthing many of the
ocean's deepest secrets the crew was worn out and
ready to return home. Yet storms and vast
amounts of bad luck had continuously thrown them
off course.

Once they where within a three days' sail from
home a powerful maelstrom came upon the
ship and created immeasurable amounts of
damage. Its winds tore the mast, the thrashing
waves sapped the strength of the fiberglass
hull, and the controls and main motor were
instantly ruined. It seemed like the storm
would never end until suddenly a loud clap of
thunder exploded and shook the boat fiercely.

It turned out that the storm had forced the
boat off its path and onto a deserted island.
Within minutes the storm subsided and the
men wanting to get of the precarious ship
quickly assessed the damage. Ultimately
finding that for the immediate future it was
beyond revival.

Not wanting to waste any time and hoping to
survive their peril, the men quickly jumped
into action and gathered food and water.
Within hours they had a shelter and within
days were working on repairing the boat. Once
while salvaging supplies from the boat
Odysseus found his nearly destroyed map of
islands and discovered that they were on an
isolated island that was once used as an army
base. The island was named Circe after the
training operations that had been performed
there.
