Ronnie woke up this morning with butterflies flying around in his stomach. He did not want to get out of bed. "Mommy, I sick" cried Ronnie. " You are not sick, just nervous." Ronnie's mother told him gently. "It's okay to be nervous, but everything will good, you'll see." She tried to reassure him. Unconvinced of his mother's reassurance, Ronnie replied, "We'll see about that." Today is Ronnie's first day of Kindergarten and he did not want to go.

Ronnie got dressed, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and went downstair for breakfast. His Dad and little sister Clair were waiting at the table for him. "Good morning, Ronnie," his father said with a smile. "Are you ready for school?" Ronnie replied with a short, "No". His father smiled and reassured him that he would like school. Ronnie was silent while he ate the breakfast his mother prepared for him. He really did not want to go to school.

Together, Ronnie and his family waited at the bus stop. "Smile Ronnie, everything is going to be okay," Ronnie's mother said sweetly. But Ronnie did not feel like everything was going to be okay. Within a few minutes, the big, yellow school bus arrived and Ronnie climbed aboard. His family waved at him as he left. Ronnie still did not want to go to school.

Ronnie arrived at school and went into his new classroom. A nice lady named Mrs. Stark greeted him with a wide smile. "Good morning, what is your name?" she asked. With his head down Ronnie told the lady his name. "Well, it is so nice to finally meet you, Ronnie, I am your teacher and I have been so excited to meet you!" Mrs. Stark said with enthusiasm. For the first time all morning, Ronnie didn't feel the butterflies soaring around in his stomach. Maybe school won't be so bad, he thought.

Ronnie found his assigned seat in the front of the classroom. Ronnie looked around the classroom and saw that the other kids looked nervous too. This made Ronnie feel not so alone. Maybe I can make new friends, Ronnie thought. Mrs. Stark began the morning by introducing herself to the class and telling them all about herself. Ronnie really liked his teacher and felt more confident about the whole kindergarten thing.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Starks
In the cafeteria at lunch, Ronnie sat with kids from his class and made new friends! Ronnie really liked his new friends and was super thankful he had good friends. "Maybe school isn't so bad," Ronnie thought to himself. Ronnie and his new friends talked about their favorite games and TV shows. Ronnie really liked his new friends!
