Ban on Chinese Apps (2020)
In 2020, India banned 59 Chinese apps, including SHAREit, citing national security. I relied on SHAREit for file transfers and was initially frustrated, but the ban highlighted data privacy and security issues. It prompted me to rethink how foreign apps manage user data, especially amid India's tensions with China.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE BAN
The 2020 ban of Chinese apps in India, including SHAREit, led me to switch to Indian alternatives like JioSwitch. This inconvenience also aligned with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, encouraging local apps. The ban highlighted data privacy, national sovereignty, and growing India-China tensions, showing technology as a new tool in geopolitical power dynamics.

COURSE CONNECTION AND BROADER IMPLICATIONS
The ban on Chinese apps in India disrupted workflows for small businesses and students reliant on apps like SHAREit, emphasizing the impact of global tech policies on local economies. It sparked a shift toward domestic apps, highlighting digital nationalism and raising awareness of data privacy. This incident underscored data sovereignty as a crucial national concern.
CONCLUSION
The ban on SHAREit reshaped my understanding of technology, privacy, and national security. It reminded me that apps are part of a larger political and economic framework, influencing personal choices and national interests. This experience made me more mindful of data's geopolitical role as India advances toward digital self-reliance and sovereignty.
